Home Maintenance
Miss T is aged 63, has learning difficulties, lives alone and has serious problems coping with her home maintenance. We arranged for the central heating system to be serviced and helped to obtain funding for a new boiler; we replaced rotten windows under our Home Maintenance Service; Miss T received a full assessment under our Falls Prevention Service and had hand rails fitted throughout her home; we arranged for the kitchen to be redecorated and provided information about equity release schemes. As a result, Miss T is now able to cope much better in her own home to continue living independently.

Falls Prevention Service
Mr E is aged 76 and has very poor mobility due to Parkinson's disease. Mrs E is of a similar age and becoming physically exhausted due to the high level of care she provides for her husband. He was having great difficulty in climbing stairs and bathing, and was considered to be at high risk of falling. The couple were assessed by one of our Falls Prevention staff and a wide range of services provided, including organising the fitting of a stair lift which the couple privately funded due to the urgency of the situation; Mr E was referred to Leeds Social Services for domiciliary walking aids, a bath lift and bed rails and to the Parkinson's Disease Society for information and advice; Care & Repair Leeds fitted rails to stairs and doors and refitted loose carpets. Mr E is now able to live more independently, his risk of falling has been substantially reduced and the pressure has been reduced on Mrs E.

Disabled Adaptations Service
Mrs B is aged 80, suffers from acute angina, has severe renal problems and extremely reduced mobility. A scheme was produced to include a bathroom conversion to a west floor shower, the installation of a through-floor lift and the installation of an external step lift to allow access from road level. He is now able to access his bathroom and bedroom unaided and can visit his daughter who lives nearby.

D is aged 4 and suffers from an incurable lung disease, has severe stomach and feeding problems and extremely poor mobility. We were able to design and create a 2-storey rear extension, which included a special bathing unit and through floor lift. D is now able to access good bathing facilities and all parts of his home.
